White Rose - Symbolism
Historically, the white rose has been adopted as a symbol by a number of
groups:

Yorkshire The White Rose
(Rosa alba) was the symbol of the House of York during the struggles
for the English crown between rival aristocratic factions called the
"War of the Roses" (1455-1487); it is still a symbol of
Yorkshire.
Anti-Nazi Resistance Group The White
Rose (German: Die Weiße
Rose) was a group of students that formed a resistance movement in Nazi
Germany from June 1942 to February 1943. Based in Munich, the group
released six leaflets, calling on Germans to engage in passive resistance
against the regime. A seventh leaflet, which may have been prepared, was
never released because the group was captured by the Gestapo. A movie
of the White Rose resistance story was made in 1999 (German, with
subtitles).
Civil Liberties The White
Rose is a protest blog collective focusing on civil liberties in the
UK and the rest of world.
